Delight in the Other

Show by gesture, speech and action that you are delighted to see the other. Very important! Let the other know you like them and are happy to see them. Doesn't it feel good to you if they light up when you walk into a room?

The telephone rings.
Don says, "Hello."
"It's Ann."
"ANN! IT'S ANN!" Don exclaims with delight.
Ann asks, "You're glad to hear from me?"
"Always!" Don replies.

This reception is so much better than that given by friends who answer as if they were expecting something better, imply that you should state your business or get grouchy. Who would you rather
phone or for that matter be around? I prefer those friends who light up when I am around and energetically show this to me. Let your friends know that you are delighted to see and hear from them.
