About the Author:

Jay Schlechter, Ph.D. was born in New York City on November 3, 1941, just a month before Pearl Harbor and right after Halloween.

Educated in New York and California, he now lives in Seattle, Washington. He is in private practice after teaching at universities in California and Australia. He has counseled singles and couples on 3 continents, continuing his study of human relationships.

A dedicated jogger and a Seattle Mariner baseball fan, he still finds endless pleasure in the seemingly infinite possibilities of human interaction.

He believes that a true understanding of relating can foster not only personal but spiritual growth. It is amazing how well warmth, communication and empathy work in most cases.
